Japanese sword in tachi mountings, “Kanemune” Picture(s) and Description:

This is a Japanese sword in tachi mountings. The blade is signed “Seki Kanemune saku ????”, WWll time period (ca. 1940) era made sword and made for presentation or use for ceremony. Kanemune is son of Amahide, made swords under Amahide’s factory in Seki-city, Gufu prfecture made swords as a gendai smith and listed in John Slough’s book page 50. The blade is in old polish, no rust, no scratch and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gumome-choji temper pattern and has deep turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada and no forging flaws at all. There is no nick, no bend, no opening, no crack temper and cutting edge is very sharp. The scabbard shows minor lacquer losss but no dent, no crack and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. The blade measures 26 7/8″ tip to the guard, 26″ cutting edge , 1+3/16″ width, 7mm thickness at the notch and 39″ in mountings.
